New club in Qatar – Lava
I have to admit, it’s always exciting when a new venue is launched in Qatar. I always wonder if the club is going to be done right. From what I’m hearing so far, it sounds like it’s going to be fantastic. Global DJ’s “Master Jay” is now their resident DJ and he’ll be dishing out some great tunes. He gave me a personal call the other day and invited ILQ over for a bit of a tour and to judge for ourselves.
They’re located at the Intercontinental which is found between the Pearl and Westbay.
As long as they have great service, a great crowd, and great music; ILQ will be a supporter. I’ll post photos with ILQ’s own review soon.

As a Qatari, don’t you think you’re giving a bad impression of us other Qatari’s and of our culture seeing that we’re muslim when you publicize/promote clubs and/or similar events? please don’t take this the wrong way, but I am sincerely curious since these events are primarily targeted towards the expat community and are at the very core alien to our culture and religion. I say this with utmost respect to you and I realize that we’re all free to do as we please but I would still appreciate your feedback
thank you

Ya hala bin A7mad, thanks a lot for leaving me a comment!
First of all I’d like to say that I wish that there are more people like you who realize that one person’s actions represents the whole country. It’s up to us to make people look at our country with a smile
ILQ is about letting people know what there is in Qatar. It’s a site targeted at expats and my aim through the blog (seperate from the main site) is to try and share just one Qatari’s view on certain things. I wish that more were more vocal.
In this case, the reason why I’m enthusiastic about Lava is because I’m hoping that it wont be like other places.
From what I’m told, a lot of clubs are filled with a ‘bad crowd’, prostitutes, and fights. I’m hoping that Lava will not have any of that.
Expats working in Qatar need a place to go and entertain themselves (it’s in their culture), so it would be nice to have a place for them to enjoy their time but not to a negative extreme. Do you know what I mean?
Having said that though, ILQ mentions all sorts of events. Jazz, Orchestra, Sports, Comedy shows, Theatre, Rap, Hip Hop, etc…
I personally feel that since Qatar is a multi-cultural country (due to the work-force), then the people within the country need to have a great life in Qatar too right?
Some people say that music in general is haram, some people say that birthday’s are haram, some people say that any celebration at all (except Eid) is haram. There are loads of different views on different subjects, and it’s up to us as a nation of the future to be tolerant and accepting of different people’s beliefs right?
Ma ga6art bin A7mad for your very kind and polite post. Allah ya36eek il 3afya wa inshallah I can hear your own views
Do you have a blog?

Im New in Qatar and since I came, Im looking for a place to hangout every Thursday/Friday night. I like clubbing, it gives me this feeling of relaxation. I been searching the net of where to go and what kind of atmosphere they have. Some recommended me a few clubs but still im hesitant to go. From all the feedbacks i got from the net and blogs. LOL!!! I heard of LAVA. And really, I wanna hangout there for fun and meet new peers. So every Thursday/Friday will be a night something to look forward to. No tlike any other clubs that I hear which has, as yah say, fights, prostitutions etc. I dont want cheapy clubs. I want to hangout with people who wants to chillout for the night and not to do stupid things. I hope LAVA is different.
Mr. Q can you give me info on what the LAVA is all about? So when i come there i wont be feeling like a newbie. Then my salute for you Mr. Q for this site, you have the chill on things. And i like your views regarding religion and culture. My treat on your first drink when I see you in LAVA.. Peace!!!
