Qatar Cinema Movie Times \ Guide

I’m guessing that one of the things you’ve been wondering for a while is why there isn’t a detailed source for Cinema Timings / Schedule in Qatar? Well I wanted to ask you, besides the basics (like poster, dates, and times), what would you like an online cinema guide to include? Could it just be as simple as that? I’ll be sharing some sources soon so that you can get your Villaggio Cinema and City Center Cinema times.

I like links to Rotten Tomatoes or other review sites. But mostly I think accuracy is important — bccmovies always lies. 🙁

Accuracy and being up to date. There are several other websites that sometimes have info listed, but seriously — 9 times out of 10 it’s not correct. Even the newspapers have been wrong in my experience.
I wouldn’t look to a local site for movie reviews; like qatarperegrine, I check other sources for that. But I DO wish that there was some entity that would be able to maintain the correct shows and timings at ALL the various theaters here in Doha (Villagio, City Center, Royal Plaza, Landmark, the Mall, Gulf Cinema and any others I’ve forgotten to include here).

It ain’t rocket science, but so far nobody seems able to do this.

Timing is the least of their problems!

Movie timings + the ability to purchase tickets online or with my mobile.

Perhaps a calendar of movie listings & timings?

Freedom of Expression

Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which the Qatari Government is a signatory of states: Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any medias and regardless of any frontiers.

The Emiri Decision Number 86 of the year 2007 on the establishment of the Doha Free Information Centre marked yet another step towards establishing a State of rights and freedom of speech. The decision stipulated that the Centre be a non-profit organization, headquartered in Doha City, and have the authority to establish other affiliated centres inside and outside Qatar. It is worth mentioning that His Highness the Emir issued a decision in 1998 annulling the ministry of information, giving birth to a new era of freedom of speech where censorship was removed from local media.
