I thought I’d make a list of tweeters to follow. Now this list is based on people’s tweets that I enjoy reading and I find useful. It’s important to follow people that you enjoy following and dont spam your feed with either garbage or repeat posts. I’m going to go ahead and divide them by category too.

@ahmedalbaker – A Qatari movie producer that’s working on Qatar’s first 3D movie!

@dohafilm – The Doha Film Institute’s twitter channel. DFI is the company responsible for the Tribeca Film Festival too.

@greatdohafind – The idea is that this person tweets ‘gems’ that he finds around Qatar.

I was pleased when Abode magazine contacted me because they wanted to hear what my views were on blogging and the blogosphere in Qatar. All I had really done was share my view (in English) so that people can read up on what one Qatari thinks.

Two tweaks have been implemented onto ILQ recently and I just wanted to share them.

1) The menu bar on the left is now compact! We’ve added a cool accordian menu style that shrinks after 2-3 seconds of being expanded. If it detects that you like clicking around on links that are usually hidden, it’ll stay expanded. What’s better? iPhone friendly!

2) We’ve added a new list on the main page that shows you what the current events, latest news, latest threads, and guides are in Qatar! Now you can go clickity click and you’re there in a …. click..

Qatar succeeded with the Asian Olympics. It’s to this day, many people talk about the cinematic experience they had as they viewed athletes from Asia, a tremendous rate of growth, and the unimaginable happen.

Qatar was on the map and wanted to prove to the world that anything was possible. So the country tried with the 2016 Olympics. Looking at the statistics comparing other bidding nations, Qatar was ranked quite high. Alas, 2016 wasn’t Qatar’s year.

The people and the country remained unwavered and there was a new sight on the horizon. The World Cup 2022.

Personally, I think Qatar can do it. In fact, it may be even better than winning the Olympics. Getting the World Cup means that there will be even more development in the country. Rather than one city, Qatar will have to work harder to develop various cities in Qatar. This means that things will kick into high gear.

What’s the purpose of the World Cup?

Well, I personally believe that it’s a way of getting nations together to battle it out in a friendly way, to test strengths, to inspire generations, and to bring the world together for those few moments as individuals of all colours, ages, and sexes, grip their chairs and show their love for their country (or even their favourite stars).

What better a way than to promote the gentleman’s sport. The country’s national sport. A Middle Eastern nation’s dream. Football.

So give us a chance World! Support Qatar 2022. This Qatari and iLoveQatar.net will be eternal grateful.

So now that it’s a brand new year, I’m woken up yet again to the fact that although I’m moving at light speed, it’s still not fast enough.

ILQ’s going to go through some amazing changes and all of which are aimed at making life in Qatar much better!

With the establishment of a fresh perspective and the inclusion of some dedicated people, I’m confident that we’ll be able to be an entertaining and life changing resource.

For now, here’s a little update for you all. Thanks to Qatar Guest from QatarVisitor (which I can honestly say is one of the good ones), I was invited back onto the twitter scene.

Think Pink was a great success yesterday. iLoveQatar.net has been seriously involved in ensuring that the event received as much coverage as possible. It’s all about Breast Cancer awareness. Over 400 people showed up and the event was fantastic. Karen did a great job (the founder).

I was slightly disappointed that the media did not even bother to mention ILQ’s involvement (although you would have thought it would be clear with the ILQ banners). I think that they don’t realize the importance of mentioning sponsors. It encourages sponsors to actually ‘sponsor’. *sighs*

I sponsored this event because I felt it was important. My grand mother, God rest her soul, died of a rare form of cancer. She was the only one awake when I went off to uni and travelled to the UK for the first time many years ago. She was the best. I also sponsored the event to show that it’s not something people can take lightly. Many people suffer from it and we’re inching ever closing to finding a better cure.
