Red Bull Crashed Ice Qatar Invitation

A great little invitation arrived at the ILQ offices yesterday. It was quite unique. It’s the type of thing that I expect from RedBull.

What appeared to be an ice-pack, contained a nice little flyer with a lanyard for entrance. Just goes to show that a little extra goes a long way.

Donate to charity!

donateSome people may have notice, but there’s now a little donate box on the left side of ILQ courtesy of Vodafone. (Right underneath ILQ’s Labour force donation button). They’re making it easy to donate to charity and all you need to do is select how much you’ve got to spare!

So if you’re feeling generous, go ahead and donate! Just visit http://www.iloveqatar.net and share a little :)

The Red Carpet Photos

I’m one of those guys that always wants things to be better. The Red Carpet event was quite a success but I had envisioned something a bit more grander. Maybe it’s just me :P

Either way, thanks to all of those ILQers (and of course everyone else) who attended. If you’d like to check out some pictures, click on the link below.

Freedom of Expression

Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which the Qatari Government is a signatory of states: Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any medias and regardless of any frontiers.

The Emiri Decision Number 86 of the year 2007 on the establishment of the Doha Free Information Centre marked yet another step towards establishing a State of rights and freedom of speech. The decision stipulated that the Centre be a non-profit organization, headquartered in Doha City, and have the authority to establish other affiliated centres inside and outside Qatar. It is worth mentioning that His Highness the Emir issued a decision in 1998 annulling the ministry of information, giving birth to a new era of freedom of speech where censorship was removed from local media.
